The country

The Municipality of Resia comprises the Resia Valley and above Uccea Valley. It is located in the north-eastern region of Friuli Venezia Giulia. To the East it borders with the Republic of Slovenia, on the North by the municipality of Chiusaforte, on the West by the municipalities of Resiutta, Venzone and to the South with the municipality of Lusevera. The Resia Valley is the main Valley with a length of 21 km and a length of up to 3 km. The highest peaks that surround it are in the del Monte Canin Group East (2587 m) and in the chain of Musi (d. 1866). The Valley of glacial origin, is crossed by the clear waters of the mount Canin which, enriched by numerous tributaries, flows into the Fella to Resiutta. The Valley is divided into five major fractions which are, from West to East, San Giorgio, Resia, meadow, Oseacco and Stolvizza Gniva. There are also the villages of Poclanaz, Lipovaz, Crisacis, Lischiazze, Coritis and Gost.
In the adjacent Valley, further South, Uccea.
